TheAuto-TuneMobileappdoesnotdoanythinguntilyousingthroughit.Whenyousing,Auto-TuneMobiledetectswhatnoteyouaresinging,andcorrectsthepitchofyournotes,tothenearestvalidnote,fromtheonesyouselectonthescreen.Thecorrectedvocalsgooutthroughthespeakers(whenyouturnonAudioOut);alsoAuto-TuneMobileiscompatiblewithotherappsifyouwishtorecord.

ConnectAuto-TuneMobiletoyoursoundsystembetweenyourmicrophoneandyourP.A./speakerstouseAuto-TuneMobileinaliveperformancesetting.Useamicrophoneaudiointerfacedevicetoconnectthe1/8inchjacktoyourmicrophonelineandtheheadphoneoutputtoyoursoundsystem.TurnonAudioOutontheAuto-TuneMobileapptogetaudiotopassthroughthesystem.IfyouturnonAudioOutwithoutconnectingtoyoursoundsystem,youarelikelytoheartheinternalfeedbackoftheinternalspeakertotheinternalmic.Adjustyourmicandspeakerssothereisnofeedback.

Vocalsarecorrectedtothenearestpitchbasedonthekeyandscaleofthesong,ortoasetofmelodynotesselectedonthescreen.UsetheChromaticscalewhenyoudon'tknowwhatkeyorscaleasongisin.Thisistheeasiestwaytocorrectyourvoicetothenearestpitch.

TheRetunespeedisthetimeittakesforAuto-Tunetopitchcorrectyourvoice.TheNormalRetunespeedisasettingof50msecs--thisgivesanaturalhumanizedpitchcorrectioneffect.NormalRetunespeedisappropriateforamoderatetemposong,forexampleasongat120bpmwithamelodyineighthnotes.

Afunkyorfasttempotune,orasongrequiringsixteenthnoteprecision,willlikelyrequireaFastRetunespeed.TheFastRetunespeedcorrectsnoteswithin25msecs;thisisbetterforfasternotes.Forslowsongsorballadsfeaturinglongheldnotes,theSlowRetunespeed(75msecs)mayprovideamorenaturalsound.

Inadditiontonaturalsoundingpitchcorrection,youcanalsoapplytheiconicAuto-Tuneeffect.TheAuto-Tuneeffectinessenceretunesyourpitchimmediately(in0msecs).Ironically,ifyousingreallywell,thereisnotmuchcorrectionforAuto-Tunetodo.TheAuto-Tuneeffectismostnoticeablewhenyouareoffkeyoryouslideintoanote.AlsowhenyousettheapptotheAuto-TuneEffectsetting,ameterappearsatthetop(redbouncingball)thatvisuallyindicateswhetheryouaresingingsharporflat.

TheBypassbuttonisprovidedasaquickwaytostopandstartaddingtheeffectasyousing.

Auto-TuneMobileconformstotheInter-AppAudio(IAA)standardsoyoucanuseAuto-TunewithyourotherIAAapps.NoticewhenusingwithGarageBandthattheAuto-Tunefiltertakeseffectasyourecordthetrack.Ifyouwanttopitchcorrectapre-existingvocalyouwillneedtoreplayitoutsideofGarageBandandre-recordittoanewtrack.Midicontrolofpitchcorrectionisincluded,soyoucanconnectaMidikeyboardanddirectthevocalstosingonaparticularmelodyoronasetofscalenotesaspressedonthekeyboard.Midinotepresseswillshowupinredontheapp.

Auto-TuneMobileisAudiobuscompatible,allowingAuto-TuneMobiletoworkwithyourotheriOSmusicapps.Auto-TuneMobileactsasafilterinthe“Effects”category,soyoucanapplypitchcorrectionandtheAuto-TuneeffecttootherAudiobus-compatibleapps.(seehttp://audiob.us).
